A classmate of five-year-old Sam Puttick, who died of meningitis in May, has organised a balloon release to raise money for the fund set up in his name.

Sam, who was a pupil at Westbury Leigh Primary School, was paralysed from the neck down after a car accident when he was just 16 months old.

After his death, which was followed by the grief-stricken suicide of his parents Kazumi and Neil Puttick, a fund was set up in his name by the Spinal Research charity.
