I know I bang on about this but.......
« on: May 06, 2010, 09:17:27 AM »
The bird breeding season is well underway and there are loads of vulnerable fledglings out there so keep your cats in!

Or if you can't or wont keep em in, tie a loud bell round their necks!

Cats catch birds, it's the way things are.

Unfortunately they do but it can be avoided to a certain extent by keeping them in, especially this time of year. They don't have to go out.

I despair as to why people have cats. You feed em, but unlike dogs they are not loyal to their owners. If they get fed elsewhere, they're off. They don't have to catch birds/mammels to survive, they do it for fun. I've known owners to laugh when their cat brings a half dead mouse/bird home that's it's tortured for hours before hand. What's funny about that!
And on top of that they sugar where they like, usually neighbours flower beds. and they bury it so as you get an unpleasant surprise when weeding.

You might have gathered that I don't like cats.

But I would never harm one.

It’s not nature Duke. Domestic cats are not a natural species to this country. I can accept that indigenous species predate birds, this is all part of the food chain. Domestic cats don’t predate birds for survival.

I also accept that there are other invasive species not native to this country that predate other species for survival. Grey squirrels and Mink spring to mind. These animals are controlled as best as possible. Did you know that it is illegal to catch a grey squirrel and release it in another area but not illegal to kill it.

Control your cats! Don’t let them imbalance nature!
