A moan about Morrisons
« on: June 04, 2010, 22:08:38 PM »
last tuesday I went into morrisons and as they did not have what I want on the meat counter I went to their Butchers department, I stood there and the 2 lads behind turned around and looked at me then turned their backs and carried on talking amongst themselves ! 5 full minutes later someone else came behind the counter and said can I help you I asked for what I wanted where he asked the other 2 if they had what I wanted there reply was nothing to do with us next isle on the left and the spelt out FAG.
STUNNED i went to the next isle knowing thats where they kept the cheeses etc not meat so went back towards the butchers where all 3 where all staring at me and laughing >:( I then walked off and it then dawned on me what they had just done where i BUMPED into the store manager where I said angrily what they had just done, and gave him my shopping basket with shopping in it and told him to stick it which I admit was out of order for me as he didnt know what had gone on.
I then walked to the co-op to do my shopping and slightly calmed down, and decided to ring the store manager in morrions and then explained and apologised for my out burst to him , he was very angry with the whole way his staff had behaved and said he was going to have a serious word with them about it , and also he has had so much trouble with the butchers department, what are your thoughts leave it or go further and report this their head office

This makes my blood absolutely boil. Take this all the way Mike. If that had happened to me,well i don't know what I'd do. I know that i would've been very upset and ANGRY >:( When you say they spelled FAG can you explain that in more detail please? Won't be buying from their butchers until this is sorted. You were right to be upset and angry! Please keep us updated on this.

their precise words where nothing to do withus then went F A G , ie they said each letter.
their manager reckoned they where talking about wanting to go for a ciggie yea right, and to be honest I dont use that butchers now and go to Linhams, and really cant be bothered with morrisons anymore but im still debating whether to go to their head office with the complaint

Sorry to hear about your to-do with Morrisons Mike. I have to speak as I find and have to say that the Butcher's department have always been very helpful and curteous. It's a shame they cram the aisles with baskets full of products though!! I have found it difficult getting around recently as I have been on crutches and now have a walking stick, especially near the vegetables.
Is it time for your Medication or mine?

update today I have spoken to Morrisons head office this morning , who are naturally horifired this has even happened , And they where so apologetic it was unbelievable.
I have nothing against this company whatsoever ! , but when speaking to them I did say to them that this could quite easily be a police matter now for homophobic abuse and if this hit the press , its their own fault, I do not want to push it that far but in reality which i Presume they will do is dismiss the staff involved , and that is what I would like to see happen as they totally deserve it , as even if they said someone was say fat that personal abuse is just not on by shop staff .I dont believe the manager has dealt with this in any serious way and his participation is out of order so its gone to the top now for them to sought out , i also said when they first came into westbury I was extemley vocal in welcoming them as a company to westbury in my capacity at council and this behaviour by some staff is like a slap in the face
hopefully as they have said they will be in contact with me on monday morning to let me know what they are doing about this, and they are fully aware that this has been placed on the town forums which obviously they are not happy about , but at the end of the day it is not libelous in any way and 100% acrate information on the small minority staffs attitude and behaviour

Mike, it seems strange that you have not mentioned how rude you were to a female member of Morrisons deli staff on Friday evening when there was not a member of staff on the butchers counter, you called across from the butchers counter whilst she was serving me, for her to get a member of staff to that counter, without a please or thankyou. Perhaps your previous account is not so correct if this is your attitude to all Morrisons staff!

actaually , whilst you where shaking your head at me which i did acknowledge , Mandy is whom i was calling for is the supervisor for both departments and we had alraedy spoken about this and her attitude was if they ever paly up again call her  asap as mandy was on and the idiot was on there again I naturally called for mandy which i Did you where to busy shaking your head  and if you had asked or spoken to me i would have explained the situation to you, I am happy now that people like mandy have taken control of this as asoon as I called her my god the attitude changed , the young girl on the deli also knew the situation so was not put off by what was happening and that is why, today the head office rang me.
I am quite aware your partner works within the store and if any morrisons staff now have an issue with this hard lines , they should jolly well treat customers with the full respect they deserve , My behaviour last night was assertive and effective the supervisor is happy along with morrisons head office , and to just relay to you that one of the staff who was aprt of this in the begining that day was actually on the butchers last night , but was to busy doing there own thing, and where you where stood on the deli counter , that vision would not have been apparent to you my friend

And another issue I would like to metion when I did complain , I also did say and name some members of their staff , who are very much helpful  and are a total asset to  the store there by way of their profesional behaviour and general good manners and total helpfulness when visiting the store this is, what a shop I believe is what a company like Morrisons are striving to achieve and do it very well , but sadly there are always going to be a few bad apples that bring companies of good standing like MORRISONS  into a bad light, I have all faith they will sought this out asap, and trust this company 100% for their commitment to giving good value and service across the sector

[app] [app] [app] I just wanted to thankyou for doing this. I was a bit concerned at one point that you might not take this further as i know that you don't (as i don't too) like to be in the situation where it looks like you are one of those banner waving gay men who is  hell bent on highlighting everything under the sun to do with gay prejudice. As an openly gay man with partner(hubby) now for 15 years i am fortunate enough to have not suffered to many incidents of this kind of thing. But when they do happen it's not a pleasent experience.

I have learned to pick my battles in life, and turn the other cheek in some of these incidents. But there are times when you have to simply stand your ground and say NO I'm not putting up with that, why should i??? It seems homophobia or homophobic words are still the last prejudice to die as in some cases people don't see it as THAT BAD. Well if you're on the receiving end of it, it jolly well is. I remember that pub sign incident about faggots and mince not served here years back and some of the comments about people being too PC and not being able to take a joke. ??? ???

If that butcher had spelled the word NIGGER , PAKI ,FAT OR any other numerous words i bet you wouldn't see their arses for dust.

Thankyou Mike for sending out the message that these incidents are not acceptable , will never be acceptable and should never ever be again.  [beer]

I think you will find that Mandy is not a supervisor of both departments and was more than lightly just trying to help.
