Perhaps spanner would take them all in for a few days.  Give them a few good meals, let them have a bath & show them what a toilet looks like.
Please would you walk a little faster, or get the f*** out of my way.

Did anyone else see a documentary on Channel 4 called 'My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding'?.It was really interesting. Some of it was shot on a permanent travellers site and it looked quite nice, not unlike a mobile home park with flower beds and so on.I think it was up north somewhere.Anyway, where is the nearest permanent travellers site to this area?.Surely if they had somewhere where they could go legally then that would be the solution to the problem.

No It wouldn't. These pikeys - for that's what they are - not travellers, don't want to be 'legal' ! Christ, they might have to pay tax and stuff like the rest of us if they moved onto a permanent legal site!

What Bob said, they dont want to settle or live under brick, they want to live on the road, and do not care about the mess or inconvenience they leave behind.
If they want to settle, there are sites for them, or they could 'shock horror' live in a park home or house.

Isn't there a small site on the Penleigh Road? If they want to settle, let them go through the proper channels like everyone else! BUY land,  put in PLANS get PERMISSION and join society and pay all dues! Until then, stay off other peoples land!

These aren't proper Gypsies, I know some proper Gypsies, They live in houses now & they are always spotless, as were their caravans.
A good few years ago I worked on a large building site in Bournemouth.  It was all council houses & around 20 of them were allocated to pikeys like these.  When the Clerk of Works turned up to do his 6 month inspection in order to release contractors retention, he only went in 2 of the pikeys houses.  They were so filthy, all internal doors had been taken off & burnt & the baths were full of shlt & dirty nappies.  He refused to do any more & signed the rest off unseen.
They don't want to settle, they're quite happy as they are.  Give them a permanent site & they'll wreck it in days.

....not give them!! let them BUY it and then go through all channels!!! Other than that, if they want to travel, then, go to a camp site and pay the fees there! We would alllike to do exactly as we want but life isn't like that is it!!

I agree Bob.

Most of these are no more than mobile scroungers. Why should the rest of us have to work to provide for these parasites.

If our MP's and Unitiary Councillors want sites for these people, let them pay for them and provide their own land.
I may disagree with your views but I am NOT attacking YOU!

Old Codger.
That is twice that i have noticed you have mentioned they are from Ireland or have Irish accents.I sense it is an anti-Irish thing with you.Well, they are not tolerated in Ireland either and are pushed from pillar to post there as well.I have been looking at statistics for the travellers and half are dead by the age of 39,infant mortality is 5 times the national average and there is an epidemic of measles in the travelling community at the moment. All this is because they don't have proper health care.We pay taxes ok, they don't, but we get something for our taxes, they don't.I don't fear them.It wasn't them that smashed my front window a couple of months ago. It's not them fighting and shouting in the street at 2.00 in the morning.I think we shouldn't blame everything on people who are passing through but focus on the problems already here.Anyway, i'm not saying any more on this topic or i will be hated and vilified as well.I respect everyones right to give their opinion though.

No one has blamed everything on them, but they HAVE left a mess after trespassing in the farmers field, and they HAVE broken and entered in Trowbridge, we are just stating facts. They have also have dogs taken away by the RSPCA as they were mistreated, they dont take dogs away lightly.

They have broken the law on a number of occasions between here and Melksham, and should be punished, but as usual, they are untouchable.
The sooner the bugger off to where they come from, the better for Wilts.

I remember when I lived in Essex, we had twice a year Romany Gypsies visit. they were clean, polite and used to make their money from horse trading, they never caused problems at all and were welcomed in our local pub.  On the other hand four or five times a year we had the Tinkers who were a pain to  say the least, so not all Gypsies are the same but those travelers who flout the law should be held to account but it seems authorities turn a blind eye and just want to move them on.  I don't know the answer but the public should not be inconvenienced by these people who seem to think they are above the law.

Having an Irish son in law could be seen as a good reason for hating them [beer]
