We came through Trowbridge station on the train and the Travellers are still in the Bowyers car park

It's no worse than visitors being greeted by an abbotoir with the squeals of condemned pigs.
                         Anyway, i don't know why people are so angry about these people living on a disused carpark.They have to be somewhere,they can't help their way of life.They were born into it.I feel sorry for them especially the women and children.You should say "There but for the grace of god go i", and count your blessings.It's not an easy life,being pushed around all over the place with nowhere to call home.

Of course we don't want them gassed, what an utterly ridiculous suggestion. What we want as residents and tax payers though, is for them to pay their way as we do, tidy up their squalor, or move on.
Not much to ask is it?
They CAN help their way of life, they are lucky enough to live in a wonderful civilised society, where all creeds and colours are accepted into that society, but that is where it all goes, wrong, they do not want to be part of society, they wish to live outside of it and all of its boundaries.

If you feel that sorry for them, buy them a field in the middle of nowhere and let them live on it.

they more than likely have house back home in ireland and go there in the winter  after coming here fleecing the towns they settle in for a couple of weeks at a time causing misery and heartache for those they fleece and the landowners they descend on .   if you notice they always turn up around the s ame time of year... school holidays

Are you saying you'd rather have gypsies / travellers there than people earning money and paying taxes from the 'squeals of condemned pigs'?

And I'm sure they can help their situation if they choose to - I don't think in general they're short of a few quid and couldn't afford a deposit for a house.

There was one motorhome parked in the field that I know costs more than a 15% deposit  on a 3 bedroom house. (maybe even a 20% deposit depending on spec - I know 'cos a mate just bought one and I was flabbergasted by the cost!)

The Travellers have now moved from Bowyers and have 'set up home' in Chippenham! They left behind a load of rubbish as well as 3 large gas cylinders. Councillor Hedley said he is at a loss as to what can be done to solve the problems. He also said, "They get moved on from place to place and have nowhere to put their rubbish". Yes they do!! There are Public Refuse skips where we law abiding people have to take any rubbish that can't be put in our bins!! They have trucks, cars etc and should be made to clear the site before they leave. There seems to be this 'law' that says let them do what they like because of any repercussions!! Bully Boy fear tactics!!!

Instead of fining them or making them pay the parking charges, Chippenham Council covered up all the Pay Machines, so to be fair to the locals as well!! Is there anything these people can't do?? What planet are we living on, If you are a crowd and you use bully boy tactics you get away with it!!!

i have to agree witht hat        they should be made to pay for the parking charges... i wonder what would happen if ordinary legal law abidinf citizens decide to amass in public places like that???  i bet we wouldnt be treated with kid gloves and let of parking charges etc just because we were a group... its only because they are travellers and have bd reputations that get away with all of this. i bet if i was  to suddenly take to the roads and park up wherever and whenever i wanted causinf havok,mayhem and mess  i would soon get cops and any other legal way to get me off of other peoples property. with also lrge bill to boot as well...
