                   I don't think that trespassing is an offence under criminal law only under civil law so it is up to the landowner to take out a civil action.I think that they wanted to make trespassing on land a criminal offence but the 'Right To Roam' brigade played up about it because they thought it would stop them walking all over the countryside with their rucksacks and Mars Bars.

i cant see the laws changing anytime soon. can you? this happens every  year wihout fail. All the local towns get bombarded with these people every year without fail. you only have to look at the local papers and read the news paper reports detailing the damage and mess they leave behind. its the land owners i feel sorry for having to foot the bills for the clean up of their land and the blocking of it off so these people cant come back. Breaking into land on the bowyers sight in trowbridge is against the law surely??? they have forced their way in and should be escorted of the property as quickly as they got onto it. i dont understand why it takes time to sort it all out through courts and injunctions etc if they are blatently breaking laws by entering premises and land that is obviously not theirs . why does it take such a time to evict them.

Perhaps you would like to go and help the farmer pick up the crap they have left? and clear the poop up? then you can go along to Trow and help there too.

looking at the comments on s9's link and the comments on here it really looks as though you are in the minority spanner.
i doubt you would have the same opinions if you were a land owner and they broke into your land by smashing down fencing or breaking open locks to enter it.... and then continnued to make a huge mess some of which has to be done properly because of the health and safety issue concerning human excrement     and im quite sure you wouldnt like it if any of your elderly relatives or elderly friends had been taken in or intimidated by these people who come to your door .. it happens  and it haas happened  locally over the years.  these people return year after year..doing the same things leaving a trail of mess, sh*t  and costs which have to be met by someone, eiother landowners or councils.  i dont think thats fair or right and so do a lot of other people. you only have to see that in the local papers. obviously they can come and park up in a lane or land near you and they would be welcomed with open arms by you and your family
