Wiltshire Council to tax worplace parking?
« on: August 23, 2010, 19:57:32 pm »
On the news today it was mentioned that Wiltshire Council was one of the local authorities considering a tax on workplace car parking. I ask our Unitiary Councillors - Is this true?

If so:

1. Start a pilot scheme by taxing the parking places at County Hall and the other Unitary Council sites in the county. Pass the tax to the employees NOT Wiltshire residents. See what the reaction is!

2. You may be "cash strapped" but so are the people. Why do you consider you are the only ones allowed to up charges to pay for it? What are you ? Bankers!! Working people cannot just demand more salaries to "balance the books".

3. Other councils have claimed this extra revenue will help improve public transport. I say "B*ll^cks!" as:

(a) car parking charges have already been put up to allegedly pay for this; and

(b) let those who choose public transport pay for it (how many bus/rail passengers would pay extra fares to subsidise the increases in motorists' fuel and duty increases? (I give you a clue - "0").

4. Cut this cr*p now - this is what we had from the last Labour Government and expect from Liberals. If you still believe it - call a Unitiary election NOW!
I may disagree with your views but I am NOT attacking YOU!

OK! So you and our Unitiary councillors agree this tax is OK!

No point in me trying to fight the issue then?
