I haven't been to a pub in years, I'm a bit old fashioned and used to love it when the only entertainment was the juke box, darts, shove hapeny, bar billiards and cards. No monster telly blasting out bloody football or MTV. Oh and of course the banter which seems to have gone now pub humour is the best cos we English are good at it. 2 examples in the 70s at the Fox and Hounds in Warminister a few of us were in for a pint Sun Lunch when my mates wife marched in with a plate of food, emptied it over his head and said its the only way you will be on time for a hot dinner. He never flinched, put his finger up to his forehead, licked it and said... next time more salt dear. He was seriously in the cart i can tell you, another time a couple were having an argument and he said I will dance on your grave, she said Good I'm being buried at sea. Oh good times. Pubs now seem to have the same faces on the same stools telling the same jokes and I find it a bit boring or am I the boring one preferring to sit at home with my 8 cans for a fiver.
