police incident
« on: September 05, 2010, 17:16:21 pm »
something johnsouthwales posted in another thread made me do this new one.... so as not to get confused....

http://networkedblogs.com/7xmlO

this is what i saw on facebook this morning

this is the report that john found on the very same incident....      :(
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1309136/Lifted-like-rag-doll-hurled-cell-Shocking-video-police-brutality--5ft-2in-tall-59-year-woman.html#ixzz0yffz6vDu

reading both you would have  thought it was 2 totally different incidents....

i know there is good and bad in every race..religion... profession... but the police you expect to be above all that... here in uk at least....   still i suppose it goes on all over the world... doenst mean to say thats its right or should be accepted though.....

do you know what i am thinking?

why would it have taken the female officer to report it?  if it was on cctv, who is watching and reviewing the cctv?  would the reviewer have kept schtum?

I think the Police have a very difficult job to do, You will always get bad apples in any profession but it doesn't make it right! Any 'bad apples' in the Police, Teacher, Doctor, Clergy etc, should be dealt with and given extra sentences. After all, they are in positions are trust!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i agree witht he position of trust scenario.... and should be given stiffer sentencing because of it....

maybe the person doing the cctv was a "mate" of his...and the wpc wasnt actually a friend just a collague and was disgusted by his actions.  i couldnt believe my eyes at the  still pictures from the custody suite... iknow from being int here myself ( children!!  ::)  ) that the custody suites are rarely empty there is quite a few people behind the desk and wandering around...so  there should have been more than one person to make a complaint about this horrible policeman....

would you in the same position report a work collegue for being overzealous in that sort of situation???   i know i would...most definately....

it's called whistleblowing? it happens everywhere. police, nhs, councils etc.

just how long has this officer been like that? how many others are there floating about nationwide?

when he gets the sack, his next job will be working for a security firm...

Well, at least it wasn't covered up and also that a fellow Officer reported it! That took a lot of guts! You ought to feel safe in a Police Station after all!

As a former police officer, I was appalled by this Sergeants' behaviour, as a Wiltshire resident I was even more appalled.

I am, however, grateful that this sort of behaviour is still so rare that it does make headline news and not merely relegated to the back pages of a local newspaper.

We shall no doubt, quickly receive confirmation from Wiltshire Police that this officer has, quite rightly, been dismissed from the service.
I may disagree with your views but I am NOT attacking YOU!

what is equally alarming is the circumstances in which she was arrested for in the first place?

since when has sleeping in a car been a crime? she refutes that a bretah test was offered, so hich leads to the question...who else was at the vehicle in the first place, and why hasn't he or she spoken up and on up to no breath test was offered? instead of dragging off an innocent person into police custody?

that is the real problem.. just what exactly went on

It's called closing ranks for fear of what else might come to the surface.  For that reason we'll never know exactly what went on

I hope that someone high up & with a lot more integrity than her colleagues, will be keeping a close watch on the wpc who had the bottle to speak out.

From what I understand, the offence took place some 2 years ago, when he was suspended ON FULL PAY.  He was convicted & was still suspended ON FULL PAY.  He has now been sentenced to 6 months imprisonment, & unless anyone can tell me different he is still suspended ON FULL PAY pending some sort of hearing to decide whether or not he should be dismissed.

If I'd been on video treating someone like that at work, I don't think I would have been suspended on full pay.  Possibly suspended by something & sacked immediately. But then I never worked for the government.

I think the word "quickly" is a little misplaced.

Why do we have to fund such an insane farce?

i dont thnk its right that he was suspended on full pay... and certainly not able to get it now he has been rightly convicted and imprisoned.
yes i agree with john about the young wpc..i hope someone is going to keep their eye on her too just in case some of the other (friends) coppers object to her blowing the whistle on him.
