A 10-year-old, reportedly of Romanian descent, gave birth in a Spanish hospital last week, with her mother claiming it was common for girls that young in her country.

Not according to the Romanian Criminal Code, Article 218 (Sexual intercourse with a minor), which reads: "Sexual intercourse, of any nature, with a person of the other sex or of the same sex, who has not reached the age of 15, shall be punished by strict imprisonment from 3 to 10 years and the prohibition of certain rights."

The mother appeared to tell hospital staff her daughter 'lived with her boyfriend' back in Romania.

                                i too agree...ridiculous...  they cant look after themselves at ten yrs old let alone a baby....  and as for living together back hom in romania how ridiculous can you get... what a backward country they live in!!!  if it happened here there would be such a hue n cry over it.. they would all be put into care until they were all 18
