'Mum'
« on: February 15, 2011, 20:51:54 PM »
.......I see on the chatbox that 'Mum' has said  Jamie is upset that he didn't win 'Westbury Person of the Year'!! What a strange post!!! I think she needs to tell him that he is doing a good job and should be pleased that he was even nominated. It isn't all about winning!! Arthur has been giving Westbury a very good service for some 60yrs and is a well deserved winner!

And he's the last person who'd go looking for any sort of award.
Please would you walk a little faster, or get the f*** out of my way.

:) Yes, I'm sure you're right WL. Such a nice caring man. IIRC he wouldn't retire some years ago as he felt the right person hadn't come forward to take on the Business!

He will never retire until he's forced to, he loves his job too much. He broke his wrist last year when the jack collapsed while he was changing a wheel on the hearse.

Good on the lad for picking up a bit of litter. There are a couple who live Dilton way...ish - and I regularly see them picking up litter between Tesco Express and Dilton.

I think it was right that Arthur Mays won it - I've only spoken to him once but he seemed like a lovely chap, and I know that people speak very highly of him in Westbury.

i said in the chatterbox yesterday that it was very good that jamie has been picking up litter   [app]   ( not a lot of kids to going by the amount that is on my garden and drive every morning after the matravers lot go by :( )    but arthur has served our town well over that past years... sometimes in traumatic times for the families concerned ( not everyone falls asleep in the night or are expected to die) families can go into shock and denial and hard to cope with...arthur is brilliant in all aspects of his job and makes a very difficult  time a bit more managable for the families concerne.  he deserves this honour at long last in my opinion as obviously in others too as he was the nominated one in the end...
