In May 2010 Tohseef Shah spray painted a British War Memorial with "islam will dominate osama is coming" he was fined £50 & walked free from  court.

In November 2010, Emdadur Choudhury burned a Poppy during the 2mins silence. He too was given a fine, £50 and walked free from court.

Today, 2 men have been sentenced to 12 months in prison for spray painting a Poppy on a mosque.

But they were probably British whilst the first 2 were foreign Muslims! Don't believe the law is equal - it never has been!

Wow in  England do as the English do doesn't apply to some.

   I'm proud and thankful our forefathers and our current armed forced are fighting for our freedom.     Its ours.

   If these people don't like our culture and customs but welcome our handouts then the have the choice.   Go back to your homeland.

  I have visited several countries in our world and I was made welcome because I tried to speak their language, joined in with their celebrations and was enthusiastic about their culture even if I didn't understand some of it.   I never tried to rock the boat because I was a guest in their country and if I had have done I wouldn't have had the warm welcome or backing from the state that some exploit in this country.

I thin we need to know the background to the people in question to make a judgement on this.

If, for example, the 2 who got the seemingly harsh sentence were members of the BNP, and known racists, and it was a first minor crime for the ones who got the seemingly light sentences, then it's ok.....isn't it?

Surely the sentence should reflect the crime, not which party you belong to, or which ethnic or religious minority you belong to?

Sorry - to clarify, I meant if the guys who got the harsh sentence were known racists and had previous convictions for it (not their political persuasion).

What I'm saying is, the sentences may be relative to their criminal history.

Sector9, I think all three acts are abhorrent and on their own deserve a prison sentence.

S9, not every member of the BNP is a racist. Just as not every menber of the Labour party is a grinning, war mongering traitor, or a bungling Scottish buffoon. Not every member of the CONservative party is a slimy, patronising *****.  Not every member of the Liberal, or whatever they call themselves this week, party, is a power at any cost whore or an alchoholic.
 
There is a Nigerian girl in the area who calls me Dad, there is a Jamaican girl who also calls me Dad, I have a homeless black guy living in my house & I was until recently a member of the BNP. I don't see how I can be called racist, but I do agree with the bulk of the parties policies & aims. Every party has it's lunatic fringe. Even this forum has it's lunatic fringe, doesn't mean we're all nutters.

You seem to presume that the young Muslims have no previous because of the laughable sentences they were given.  You don't seem to regard them as racist either. I suppose their actions, slogans & graffiti are just  boyish high spirits, & not deliberate attacks on our heros & way of life.

Did Banksy ever get 12 months for painting a pretty picture on a building without the owner's consent? And he had previous.

Wanderlust, my question was hypothetical - I'm not assuming anything, I'm saying that we need to take into account previous convictions (if any) to fully understand whether these sentences are justified or not. Otherwise, we're all just speculating without the facts.

Personally, I do think members of the BNP are racist, although they would never admit to it. That's just my opinion though, and obviously can't be stated as fact.

I used the BNP to elaborate the hypothetical scenario of the 2 men who painted the poppy being racists with known convictions for racism. To be fair, I'm sure a lot of the BNP and EDL members do have previous for racially aggrevated behaviour (or whatever the official term is).

In summary, all I'm saying is we can't speculate on whether any of these sentences are unfair without knowing the facts.

There's no smoke without fire WL! And I am entitled to form an opinion. I bet I know more about the BNP that you know about this particular case...so I feel justified in speculating based on past BNP behaviour.

All we know (as far as I am aware, unless you're keeping something from me) about this particular case in point, is that differing sentences were given for seemingly similar crimes.

Again, I re-iterate, we can't speculate on the sentences without knowing the background / criminal history of the people involved.

Sector 9, Do you think that any party (and I am defending none here) who wants to put Britain and the British people first, are racist?

Because I am British, and I want the money raised from our taxes, first and foremost spent on improving the quality of life of our people, and not sent to countries ruled by despots who appear to siphon most of it off for themselves and their cronies (e.g. Zimbabwe) or sent to countries like China and India (wealthy economies with their own space and nuclear programmes whilst still having disgusting levels of poverty amongst their own people), am I a racist in your eyes??

No Mike, but I believe that anyone who endorses what the BNP does, and in particular has done in the past,  (by becoming a member or voting for them) is either ignorant or racist.

Just because they have 're-branded' doesn't mean their core values are any different.
