Anybody surprised?

Bob DeBilda:
Not surprised at all.

At least It's transparent in the UK now. Most other European and worldwide countries haven't a clue what their governments are up to pertaining to their expense claims.

People in all walks of life will always look for loopholes to enable them to make or save money for themselves. Greed has been bred into them and It all stems for the Thatcher years. MP's are mainly in it for themselves - no one else.

Because they make the rules that we must obey whilst exempting themselves! Simple!!

Now, as we are supposedly their masters, would it not be fairer that we make the rules they must obey?

That sounds pretty crap! what mileage rate are you getting from your employer?  It should be 45p per mile for the first 10,000 miles, then 25p per mile thereafter.
