Yes I suppose that is the most irritating thing really - lack of accountability. If someone actually said "Not my area but I will find out the name of the manager of the department you need so you can speak to him/her direct" you would feel a bit less frustrated.

I know about the problems that have occurred on your new development. A lot of the problem has related to high staff turnover at the district council causing monitoring of developers obligations to be rather slack at times. However, now that Chris Kirk is back at the district council, I am sure he is on top of what needs to be done .... albeit it is a case of catchup now.

I think Persimmon bought the company that developed those houses. I don't know whether Persimmon use any of the same contractors there as they use for Leigh Park.

I'll keep an eye open for clues that Persimmon may have cut back on landscaping now. At the moment, things look like normal in Leigh Park for this time of year ..... though one needs to know which parts Persimmon look after and which parts the district council look after.
I'm here in my private capacity as a local resident only (unless stated otherwise).

The grass along Mane Way was cut recently, certainly within the week. They have even been out cleaning the drains a month or so back.

Chris Kirk wrote to Persimmon on 13th April 2007 with a list of the pre adoption snagging that was required. There were 21 requirements. To date, Persimmon have implemented 1.

I rang Chirs Kirk about this time last year if I recall correctly to ask what the position was. He could not have been more rude and told me it was no business of mine. Of course, I only live here and have to endure the problems and concerns over the various issues on a daily basis. I am afraid I will not be holding my breath! I have lived here for 6 years in January and suspect it will take another 6 to get it formally adopted!

I don't know whether Persimmon use any of the same contractors there as they use for Leigh Park.

They used Heritage Landscaping here, until recently.

One question Baldy please - until the estate is totally adopted, I presume the residents are jointly responsible for maintenance of the roads and pavements?

I reckon the ol' Tesco Expressco car park is a bit small! It's usually rammed on a Friday after work, and once the rest of the houses are built it will be even busier. The residents' spaces are often empty though. I've seen some interesting parking there, and I must admit to having abandoned my car before now when I can't find a parking space. There's also 'willy nilly' usage of the disabled bays. Lots of bikes to trip over. No allocated space to chain my bike up. Children drawing cartoon cocks on the pavement (I have proof of this). Wow, that also turned into a rant.

No.

The developer is responsible until adoption.

Persimmon use a firm called Town & Country Landscaping (based in Wales) as their landscaping contractors at Leigh Park. They, in turn, use Parsons as a subcontractor to do occasional maintenance checks and litter picks etc.

I can't comment on what you say has happened in your development, but I can well understand the frustration Chris Kirk might have suffered at the hands of residents (I don't mean you) making all sorts of muddled claims and assertions instead of just taking his expert advice in the first place on how to proceed through the muddle which occurred in his absense when he left WWDC and then came back later.  He is doing the job of three people (ie. other councils use three times the people to do what he does).

i would say the car park is way to small for what it was intended to be used for...i can rarely ind a space easily..... it is obviously a popular one with parents picking up kids from the school nearby..hey park there go get the kids and then walk back and maybe if tesco is lucky go in and get a few bits and pieces.... whenever i have been there i have mostly struggled to get a space  which isnt one of t he ones on the roadside reserved for residents parking..... the disabled ones are always in use by people using the cashpoint or popping into tesco....  the abandoned cars there( crap parking) is awful too.... they mount kerbs and grass and just leave it where it stops bsically.....  wonder if the traffic wardens will ever find their way there!!!!!!

I've seen other great graffiti around Leigh Park, it says 'testicles' on one lamp post and 'mammories' on the next. There is also '______ smells and picks his nose' (I won't write his name).

When is independence going to be declared?
"Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Beer in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming Whoo what a ride".

I reckon Persimmon read this forum. They were clipping the hedges on the roundabout by Tesco yesterday (after Soup asked about decorating it) and they have cut back the nettles and stuff from the Penleigh Road bridleway too.

There seems to be a lot of people riding on the pavements around Leigh park, are they that wide to accommodate people walking as well as bikes. I always ride on the road but its getting a bit dangerous in parts, what can you tell me Russell ?

I am sure Russell will have a more difinitive answer but I believe that some of the paths are duel pedestrian/cyclist, especially the path that runs along Mane way. I would have thought that the paths within the estate are pedestrian only though and anyone cycyling on them is breaking the law.

If in doubt, stick to the roads when on a bicycle.
