awww now THAT is cute      you find that happens sometimes   a mother rejects their offspring but there is something near to   hand that will "help out" so to speak..sosmetimes its usually the unlikliest of combinations too

I seem to have been adopted by a cat lately. It is an almost fully grown kitten which was looking very thin and tense a month ago.
 
I've been feeding it on pure chicken, tuna and salmon .... and its now looking really healthy and perky.
 
I have been putting it back out so it always goes back home. I'm moving to another part of Leigh Park shortly, so I'll have to ween it off from me very soon.

my nan gets adopted by cats too..... she worries they are thin and feeds them too.....

I'm not completely sure that the cat does actually live anywhere permanently as it seems to be outside most of the time and incredibly hungry all day.  It keeps popping back after about 4 hours after I've put it out and shut my doors.
 
Surely if the owners are feeding it properly, it would not want to constantly keep looking for more food?
 
Am I missing something I should know about young cats?

Well ... I have looked after cats before, especially my Mums when she is away (sometimes for a month or more) and found that they normally leave their food in the bowl after they've eaten their fill.  It never occurred to me that they would then go elsewhere and eat another meal as well and then come back and polish off the lot that is still in the bowl ...

well not al cats do but some will..and see what they can scrounge off others
