i take it with all the hoo haa theres a postal strike next week,  one would never have guested

Not necessarily.

Union urged to cancel post strike

Royal Mail has offered to approach the conciliation service Acas to discuss modernisation, but only if union members call off planned strikes.

Talks between the Communication Workers Union (CWU) and the Royal Mail aimed at avoiding strike action have resumed.

Will the union take RM up on it's offer? Or continue with it's blackmailing strike?

RM need to try and keep as normal a service as possible in order to prevent business users going elsewhere. This is a sensible action, and may help to prevent the loss of jobs.

I can fully understand the CWU criticising the move, after all it will lessen the impact of their strike.

The Post won't be going any where... the 30.000 that they are going to employ can only sort they can not deliver the mail as they are not trained to do so.

I don't think RM are claiming to maintain a perfect service, but try to provide some service.

Royalmail has just said they are willing to use ACAS in the near future but the strike has to be called off... so they will not talk to them before Thursday's strike... Blackmail or what

Or what. If you ask me that's a reasonable request.

"or what".

So the RM has said they'll go to ACAS but the CWU won't call off the strike to allow those talks to happen. So, we take from that that the CWU would rather strike than talk.
