Yellow Pages, Thompson Local & 2 Denton's Directories
« on: October 08, 2010, 11:38:44 AM »
All shoved through my letterbox in the last 2 weeks.

Am I the only one who slings them straight in the bin?

I have an internet connection, so why do I need them?

They proudly announce that they've made the Yellow Pages small enough to go through the letterbox, why? because nobody wants to advertise with them any more.

At least when they wouldn't fit the letterbox, you could leave it outside in the hope somebody would nick it.
Please would you walk a little faster, or get the f*** out of my way.

I got two Yellow Pages for some reason. Made the recycling box kinda heavy!
Ride fast, take chances. Just don't blame me when you fall off.

They must cost so much to print, and I'm not sure anyone uses them these days. Like has been previously posted, the first place I would look is on the internet.

i just opened mine just as a matter of being nosy  ::) before i throw it away and if i did want to use it i would have to get a magnifying glass in order to look at the majority of the adverts in there. how they expect the elderly to use the book i dont know, or people whose eyesight isnt as sharp as it should be come to that. i would have to swap glasses and use my readers  ::)

internet has taken over the majoprity of things that we seem to do now, even a lot of the normal tv programmes advertise that they are on facebook to as well as w.w.w.

Not everyone has the internet you know, do you expect the deliverer to knock on the door to find out?  :-\  Or maybe stick a note on your door informing everyone you have the internet.

Anyway, I've found the Thompsons Local quite useful lately.

They could have an opt out option on the website for the yellow pages, that way it would save money as they could miss out those homes.

That wont happen of course, waste is good in the eyes of these companies.

Ours went straight in the recycling.

You beat me to it Dana.  They all got websites, A simple opt out form is all that's required.  But like you say, if they had to tell prospective advertisers that they don't deliver to every household, revenue would be reduced.  Never mind the waste, eh.
