Car not moved for two weeks? In August? Err, Holiday?

So a permit scheme? Who's paying for that? The residents of the road? I'd hope so, why should I fund it?

I think residents pay a contribution.

Residents parking schemes are costly and residents are unlikely to want to pay for something they get for free at the moment. Double Yellow lines are fine but they do limit visitor parking.
Wiltshire Council continue to raise the cost of parking, not just in its own owned car parks, but for residents parking. This year the increase was high, as much as 12 percent for off street and on street parking, and more for residents parking permits the admin for which has been taken on by a private company in some cases.

Michael, you are correct. Ultimately it will depend on how much the local residents want to stop non residents from parking there and whether they are willing to bear the cost.

I think they can put the Double Yellow Lines where they like in the town, the majority of motorists ignore them anyway.
