Seven Labour MP's Resign

Seven Labour MP's have resigned to form an independent group. No news of a new party yet, but wonder if this is the beginning of a new centrist party.

It's the beginning of a Remoaner-focussed party full of lightweight MPs (none of them are big beasts - even Chuka was only fairly briefly a cabinet member) who have nothing to gain from staying in their existing parties.

Had to laugh at the reporters comment at the news conferance when he said there was only enough of them to form a dinner party never mind a political one.

3 Tories now joined the independent group Heidi Allen, Anna Soubry and Sarah Wollaston.

Personally I think there is a place in UK politics for a centre ground party. Will be interesting to see how this develops.

Not sure how this play out. If they form a new party they will be a remain party, so will alienate half of the electorate immediately. Not a great start to any new party.

They will all be voted out at the next election whenever it comes, except possibly that Chuka might be Ok in his strongly Remain constituency.

Anna Soubry is literally a dead duck as her constituency was strongly leave. Good riddance to the horrible trouble-maker.  She is simply stirring up trouble and drawing attention to herself ready for some next career move after she loses her seat ...

That’s a big assumption. How do you know half the population still wants to leave? Could be due to all the factors coming to light since that assumption could be way out now.
