No surprise to local residents. Anyway at least the biggest opponent to a Westbury by-pass is living in an area free from pollution.

The town definitely needs a bypass.

  • in a hundred yeras time it will not matter
more so than anything else. I know unpopular to all HGV but why not adopt a weight restriction in the meantime. when we lobbied so hard for a Bypass, there was No plan B, and as a result the traffic/pollution both noise and smog is worsening weekly
No problems just Solutions

Would be an ideal solution but as it's an A road and a major link from the south to the M4 it is just not allowed, the BANES proposal to charge vehicles that go through Bath could make the situation even worse. What is needed is a link from the A36 at Standerwick through to the A350 the other side of West Ashton.

The Ashton Park development has a road that links to the A350 at Yarnbrook through to Stoney Gutter if a link road was built from Standerwick through to the new road it would serve many purposes relieving Rode, Southwick, North Bradley, and Yarnbrook, and would greatly reduce traffic currently going through Westbury.

Another relief for Westbury Town traffic could be a bridge across the railway at Leigh Park connecting with the Westbury Trading Estate,
all down to Wiltshire Council and some money is available.
