Well, we've all heard the line that it's good for the Government to have a decent opposition.
Actually, I think it's way more important than that especially when the Government is a Tory one with a large majority.
Way back when I was growing up in Wellhead Lane as a child, my Dad was chairman of the Westbury branch of the Westbury Constituency Association. Later, when he moved to Dilton Marsh, he was chairman of the branch there and I remember distributing Tory election leaflets all over the place with him and others.
Later, in the 90s (NB. There's no apostrophe when an "s" is added to make a plural), I was in Wimbledon Young Conservatives for a long time as secretary or Deputy Chairman or Vice President whilst being a full member of the executive committee of the Wimbledon Constituency Association. Then between 1999 and 2005, I was a member of the Westbury Constituency Association and Secretary of the Westbury branch. The point is that I know what Tories are like.
This huge majority of MPs will make then seriously cocky and over-confident and some of them will come up with all sorts of ideas that will sooner or later start to rock the boat to make the cabinet go off course ...
They really do need a strong opposition to keep them under scrutiny and on their feet at all times.
It's important that Labour gets its act together with a credible leader. Corbyn was never going to be a credible leader; he's quite simply unelectable.
The key issue for Momentum is whether they make sure they get a leader who says what they like, which will lead the party to electoral oblivion, or whether they support a leader who the wider electorate is prepared to vote for.
I've seen no evidence that Momentum is made up of people who understand the need for a leader who is "electable".
Momentum means the death of the Labour Party .... unless and until the moderate MPs and moderate members manage to purge the party of these extremists (I would call them morons because thats exactly what they are) like Neil Kinnock did. I think it will take a decade just to make Labour electable and even then they will only win when the Conservatives make some sort of huge mistake or mess stuff up badly ...
