New Fish n Chip Restaurant in old Britannia / Co-Op bank premises, High Street

(1/4) > >>

baldy:
It looks like the people who were trying to set up a fish n chip shop (restaurant and take-away) in the former Midland Bank / HSBC / Santander / Co-Op bank premises are back and have obtained planning permission to change the position of the extract flue outside the building, so it looks like they are now going ahead.

Here is the link to the owner's business web site: https://www.harlees.co.uk/

They've added Westbury to the Locations page.

Details of the recent application and decision are here: https://unidoc.wiltshire.gov.uk/UniDoc/Document/Search/DSA,906171

Shizzy:
Are you sure it was a former HSBC / Midland / Santander bank? Pretty sure we've never had a Santander bank, and I think the Midlan was the opposite side next to the butchers.

Shizzy:
Just had a look at their website, will be interesting to check it out when they finally get up and running.

Shizzy:
Their website needs some work, some of the links go to page 404.

Their community page, which there is no link to (you can only get there via the site map) seems to be still under construction https://www.harlees.co.uk/harlees-in-the-community/

Yes, I am sure.  I remember all the fascia / name panels and I actually banked with Midland there until I transferred to First Direct (now part of HSBC) in the 80s.

The bank opposite and next to the current butcher (originally Chantry TV - a company that my brother eventually half-owned prior to shutting every branch down to focus on Chantry Digital, its sister company that supplies and installs TV and video / satellite / broadband kit all over the UK to pubs / hotels etc) was NatWest, who actually still have the long head-lease and still pay rent.
