I detest New Labour and believe that it has done more harm than good for our nation. In particular, Gordon Brown is an awful prime minister and was an awful Chancellor. As Chancellor, he has raised so many taxes and hidden all sorts of public debt off-balance sheet to make things look rosier than they are (eg. PFI projects). He also sole our gold reserves off when the price was low ..... just before prices increased dramatically.  New Labour is on the brink of causing the UK to burst apart due to its enthusiasm with devolution and the EU.
 
However, I have to say that his handling of the tremendous challenges to our banking system lately have demonstrated a touch of competence which will earn him some respect.

Labour is a disaster and the LibDems are simply not a party that is anywhere near capable of governing the country with a coherent set of policies.

Tax the rich until the pips squeak ... so any half-decent entrepreneur emigrates and takes their business, brains and money with them ...
 
Cuddle up to the unions and run down British industry with pointless strikes until businesses go bust ...
 
Nationalise all the industries the unions have made into loss-makers ........  (though I admit the Conservatives made a shocking error in selling off our national railway system) ... so that they become even more inefficient and in need of shutting down ...
 
Create a financial crisis because they are just so incompetent in handling the economy (just like New Labour) ...

My God .... I had a shiver just then when I thought of that Welsh windbag Neil Kinnock who snatched defeat from the jaws of victory for Labour in the 1992 general election at a victory rally for Labour which was televised the evening before the vote ... which spooked the voters into voting against the idea of electing the national disgrace that Kinnock would have been as a prime minister.

This is typical Tory thinking. Look after your rich buddies and sod the worker. Business's can thrive without the 'fat cats' lacing their own pockets. Sure, the entrepreneur might have created the business but it's the workers which ultimately make the money for them.

Most of the industries (gas, electric, rail, buses etc.) providing a public service which were privatised by the last Tory government are now screwing the public to line the pockets of the Tory shareholders who bought the shares at knock down prices at the time of sell.
