Any ideas on why it has been plut on Slag Lane rather than the A350?

I would guess that it is there to measure smells from the sewerage plant at the bottom (north) of Slag Lane or maybe because the new houses are built on a former landfill site (using deep piles for foundations) so smelly and/or dangerous gasses may be leaching out of the ground.  Just guessing.
